Tottenham are interested in bringing Liverpool teen sensation Rhian Brewster to north London in the summer, according to a report.
The Times claim that Brewster, rated highly by Klopp, could be on his way out of Anfield after failing to break through into the senior side.
Brewster has never signed a professional contract despite offers from Liverpool and would be free to leave in the summer, with just a compensation fee to be paid.
However, the Times also claims that Borussia Mönchengladbach are leading the chase after sporting director Max Eberl was alerted to the young striker after he won the Golden Boot at the Under-17s World Cup last year.
Football Insider verdict:
This would be a big loss for Liverpool and a real coup for Tottenham if they could steal in and pinch Brewster from under their rival’s nose. Brewster is loved by Klopp who said that he was one of the “most exciting prospects in English football” and he’ll be personally sad to see the young striker depart. But, realistically, how much of a chance will he get at Liverpool? They’re not exactly short of attacking options and Klopp will be spending again in the summer window. Saying that, does Brewster see a viable route into the Tottenham first team? There are rumours that Spurs could lose their own teen striking sensation Reo Griffiths this summer and if he can’t make it – after slamming four past the Arsenal youth team recently – what chance Brewster? That’s where Mönchengladbach come in and they could feasibly promise Brewster a much quicker route to senior football. Either way, it does look like Brewster could be on his way in the summer.
