'Get him sold the rat' - Leeds fans rage at Willy Gnonto after display in 7-0 Italy win
Leeds United fans are still fuming at Willy Gnonto despite his brace for the Italy under-21s against San Marino on Thursday (16 November).
The 20-year-old bagged himself two goals in the first half at the San Marino Stadium in a 7-0 thumping of the international minnows in their under-21 Euro 2024 qualification clash.
The Elland Road faithful and Gnonto remain on questionable terms after his attempt to force a move out of the club back to the Premier League after relegation.
While he has returned to the side and seemingly found forgiveness from Daniel Farke and his Leeds teammates, he is yet to emerge as a key player with just one goal in 11 appearances this season.
Fans were not impressed by Gnonto and have taken to social media to reiterate that much more is needed from the Italian before he can return to their good graces.
This supporter did not rate his brace as the level of opposition was very low.
This fan backed himself to play even better than Gnonto against San Marino’s youth side.
Another supporter mocked Gnonto and alluded to his pre-season controversy to hammer home his anger.
This fan maintained that he still has plenty to do for Leeds fans but is still not convinced about his loyalty to the club.
One fan couldn’t care less about Gnonto’s goal haul and is still wondering why his goal tally for the Whites is so low.
This fan was much more kind to Gnonto but still prefers Leeds’ more prolific forwards.
For some fans, it seems that there’s nothing he can do to revive his reputation at Elland Road and just want the “rat” sold.
