Giakoumakis tipped to leave Celtic after source's reveal - McAvennie
Georgos Giakoumakis will ‘definitely’ leave Celtic if two more forwards are signed this month.
That’s according to former Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Ange Postecoglou’s transfer plans.
A recruitment source told Football Insider on Monday (10 January) that Celtic have made it a top priority to sign two more forwards before the close of the transfer window.
This comes as the Hoops close in on the permanent signing of Jota from Benfica.
McAvennie has been underwhelmed by Giakoumakis after he was signed last summer (2021) and predicts he will leave this month if another forward is signed.
“I’ll never say no to new strikers coming in,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think we have some great strikers. Kyogo has obviously proved it and the new guy Maeda is really exciting.
“I look at Ajeti and he’s not done it. I’ve said enough about him at this point.
“Giakoumakis, he’s not done anything really, has he? He barely plays and I do wonder why did we sign him?
“I don’t know if it’s a fitness thing or if he’s not up to the task but he was on fire last season.
“He doesn’t look right here. I just wonder if a loan spell might be best for him.
“I think if another striker comes in then he will definitely leave. The squad needs to be smaller now, not bigger.”
Giakoumakis has only made eight appearances this season, scoring one goal.
He hasn’t featured in the matchday squad for the club’s last seven league games.
