Rangers have been handed a huge boost to their ranks, as the return of Bruno Alves from his torn calf injury is imminent.
The portugese international sustained the injury late on in December 2017, during a 0-0 fixture versus bitter rivals Celtic, and was forced to limp off the pitch.
However, the club has revealled that the 36-year-old is almost ready to start competing for starting positions, having missed six games during his rehabilitation process.
Although Alves has not been everyone’s favourite player since his Ibrox switch, the Rangers faithful were happy to see him nearing his return, and took to Twitter to celebrate the news.
Here are a few of the best reactions:

Hopefully the big man gets back to full fitness and offers us something- him and Martin with Bates rotating

Somebody literally just said Alves was not a patch on Bates in this thread! I despair!

I do hope you are kidding ????

Alves and Cardoso were in yesterday putting in a session themselves. A fit and motivated Alves is a massive plus for the team

Graeme Murty has also seen the likes of Kenny Miller return from injury, alongside Ross McCrorie and Lee Wallace said to be progressing well from their respective injuries.
Alves brings with him experience, being one of the more senior players on the team, and the added competition for places will only bring the best out of the Gers defenders.
It is unlikely that Alves will feature this afternoon, as Rangers travel to face Ayr United in the Scottish Cup fifth round, although Murty has left the door open for a cameo feature.
If the Portugese international can keep his fitness, he is a huge boost for Murty for the remainder of the season.
