Graeme Souness believes Liverpool will finish in the top four of the Premier League after beating Merseyside rivals Everton on Saturday.
Liverpool secured three points after comfortably seeing off Ronald Koeman’s side 3-1, while Arsenal, Man City and Man United all picked up just one point during the weekend.
Speaking to Sky Sports News’ Premier League Daily Show on Monday morning, Souness was confident that his former side would now finish in the top four after “winning the weekend”.
Souness also claimed that Philippe Coutinho was returning to his brilliant best after his sublime solo goal restored Liverpool’s lead at Anfield during Saturday’s 3-1 win.
“As well as getting the three points, and the City-Arsenal draw, Liverpool were the winners of the weekend,” Souness said. “Liverpool are in a great situation in terms of looking to finish in the top four.

“It’s great to see Coutinho back in form, and even though Liverpool were not in top form, they came out on top this weekend and now look strong enough to finish in the top four.”
Liverpool maintained their 18-year unbeaten run at Anfield against Everton, as Sadio Mane, Coutinho and Divock Origi all found the back of the net.
Senegal international Mane opened the scoring with a precise left-footed effort, but his goal was instantly cancelled out by Toffees youngster Matthew Pennington.
Brazilian Coutinho then scored a superb goal that saw him take on multiple defenders before curling a superb striker into the top corner of Joel Robles’ goal.
Striker Origi then rounded off the victory in the second half after coming on as a substitute, leaving Liverpool in third with Man City one point behind with a game in hand.
Rivals Man United sit in fifth, but have now seen the gap between themselves and Liverpool increase to six points. However, Jose Mourinho’s side have two games in hand over the Reds.
In other Liverpool news, manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly confident of completing a deal for this Bundesliga sensation.
