Graeme Souness: This Tottenham youngster is destined for the top

Football pundit and former player and manager Graeme Souness believes that young Tottenham star Dele Alli is destined for the top.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder added his 17th league goal for this campaign on Sunday as Spurs ran out a 2-0 victory against fierce north London rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane.
It is sometimes hard to remember that Alli is still considered a youngster due to his starring performances for Spurs in these previous two seasons, while he has also been capped by England 17 times.
However, there is still a belief that there is a lot more waiting to come from the attacker and Souness himself has tipped Alli for the top, claiming his style of play brings something different than what usual attacking midfielders give.
“What he (Alli) gives Tottenham, which is quite different and I’m thinking of people like (Ross) Barkley for arguments sake who we saw earlier,” told Souness while acting as a pundit on BeinSports, as shown on YouTube.

“All want to go to the ball. What he does, he’ll watch the play develop, doesn’t want to get involved in it and he’ll run into the box all the time and because of his frame, he’s light framed.
“He must be six foot two. I was in the same hotel as him last summer in Portugal. I mean he’s lean, for me he’s got the eye of the tiger and I think he’s destined to be a top man.”
Alli has recently been named in both the PFA Premier League team of the Year and the PFA Premier League Young Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and many felt that he should have been put up for the more senior award which was won by Chelsea midfield enforcer N’Golo Kante.
He still has five years remaining on his contract at the north London club and now Spurs fans will be hoping he meets Souness’ prediction while also helping their club to lift trophies.
