Tottenham could pull off a bargain if they sign Leicester City winger Demarai Gray for £20million, according to Darren Bent.
The former Spurs and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes there have been a lot worse players sold for the same price as the Foxes star.
As revealed by Football Insider, Jose Mourinho has held preliminary talks with the 24-year-old over a move to Spurs and that Leicester have slapped a £20million price tag on the winger.
The England under-21 international is into the final year of his contract at the King Power Stadium after he penned a four-year deal back in 2017.
Bent believes that Gray would be a fantastic signing at £20million and could offer Spurs a lot more than other players in the same price bracket have.
Bent told Football Insider: “That is not an awful lot of money, when you think about it, £20million, that nowadays, what does that really get you?
“People are overpaying for a lot of players and you’re not really getting a lot for £20million but to get someone like Demarai Gray, I think it would be a great signing for that kind of money.
“I’m all for that signing.”
Gray joined Leicester from Birmingham City back in 2014 and has gone on to make 167 appearances for the Foxes.
However, he was primarily a squad player for Brendan Rodgers last season with just three Premier League starts to his name.
