Three attacking stars and two more defensive ones are the most likely players to join Everton in the January window, according to a report.

The Guardian claims Manchester United midfield anchorman Morgan Schneiderlin and winger Memphis Depay, Charlton winger Ademola Lookman, Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini and Burnley centre-back Michael Keane could make moves to Goodison Park this month.

It is said that Everton manager Ronald Koeman will have an estimated budget of £40million to beef up a squad that has had a mixed first half of the season.

The Merseysiders came from behind to draw 2-2 against Hull on Thursday night, with a late Ross Barkley header rescuing a point for the visitors.

But there is a widespread anticipation that Koeman will use some of their resources at his disposal following the takeover by billionaire majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri earlier this year.

“There seems little doubt that Everton’s squad requires a bigger overhaul than Ronald Koeman anticipated when arriving from Southampton in the summer,” reported the Guardian. “Goalkeeper, central defence, central midfield, cover at left-back and better options up front – several of them – must all be on the wishlist.”

The Dutch manager made a number of major signings after taking over in the summer, including defender Ashley Williams, winger Yannick Bolasie, central midfielder Idrissa Gueye, goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and forward Enner Valencia, who joined on a season-long loan from West Ham.

Everton are seventh in the league table with a haul of 27 points from 18 matches, 10 adrift of Arsenal in fourth position.

In other Everton transfer news, the Toffees are lining up a quick £20million deal for this Premier League ace.
