Guillem Balague: Tottenham boss Pochettino reaches emphatic decision on 24-year-old
By Dominic Toner
Guillem Balague believes that Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will not consider a move for Real Madrid’s Isco.
The 24-year-old playmaker has been a long-term target for Spurs and the Daily Mail reported they were interested in a loan deal last summer.
Sky Sports’ Spanish correspondent Balague claims that the north London club will not renew their interest in Isco, despite the future of the attacking midfielder still unclear.
“Real Madrid want to give him (Isco) another contract,” Balague said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “He wants to see what happens. He is open to the possibility of leaving and he’s got offers from top teams in Europe.
“Tottenham are a team that wanted him last summer but I think Mauricio Pochettino will put his focus into other players.”

Spurs are currently second in the Premier League table and look set to finish in the top four this season, but are 10 points adrift of leaders Chelsea.
They will surely look to strengthen their squad in the summer window as they look to lift a first domestic title since 1961.
Isco is not believed to be a target for Spurs, despite a good chance he could be leaving Madrid in the summer.
The Spaniard has made 30 appearances this season across all competitions, chipping in with six goals and supplying six assists.
Football Insider verdict:
Madrid ace Isco may soon become available in the transfer market, but Pochettino does not look set to renew his interest in him. The 24-year-old has proved to be an intelligent player during his time at the Bernabeu and has racked up 179 appearances for the Spanish giants. He is technically gifted and would certainly add some extra class to the Spur squad. However, he is yet to experience the physicality of the Premier League and there is no guarantee he would be able to make a smooth transition to English football. Isco has chipped in with goals and assists this season for Madrid, but Spurs do already have Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli as their playmakers. Pochetino may be targeting different areas of the pitch for improvement and that may well be the right thing to do.
