Harry Kane: Bayern Munich ready ‘talks’ as Man United set sights on forward signing

Harry Kane is set to discuss a new contract with Bayern Munich’s board at the end of this season amid continued interest in his services from Manchester United, sources have told Football Insider.

United have long been linked with a move for Kane due to their stature and his status as England’s leading striker for several years.

They have been encouraged to make a move for the 32-year-old this summer as he approaches the final year of his contract with Bayern.

Honorary Bayern president, Uli Hoeness, recently admitted that Kane could be tempted away by a big wage offer, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, the club remains convinced that he will pen fresh terms soon.

Man United’s transfer shortlist does not necessarily include a new striker signing, but they would not want to pass up on the chance to sign Kane if he pushes to leave Bayern.

Bayern Munich confident of keeping Harry Kane despite Man United interest

Kane is one of the most in-form players in the world right now, with Bayern looking to secure a historic treble after wrapping up the Bundesliga title last week.

He is set to hold contract talks with the club’s chiefs after the season ends, with United looking to pounce on any hold-ups or potential disagreements that might occur.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Bayern Munich are quite relaxed over the whole situation.

“I think they are planning to hold talks with Kane and his representatives at the end of the season to try and tie him down to a new deal. He’s been a revelation since he moved to Germany.

“He’s under contract until 2027, but Bayern will be hoping to extend that during the summer because he’s such a key man for them. He’s probably in the running for the Ballon d’Or as well, considering the form he is in.”

Man United could replace Bryan Mbeumo amid poor form under Michael Carrick

The Red Devils will look to sign a new attacker this summer, but a wide player is set to be targeted ahead of another number nine.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that United could replace Mbeumo and push him further down the pecking order in the final third with a new signing in the coming months.

He has not scored in his last nine games for United, with Carrick possibly losing patience as they edge closer to Champions League qualification.
