Man United are pessimistic about the prospect of landing Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 29-year-old is United's top target as they search for a marquee striker signing - but a move is becoming less likely as the summer window advances.

Man United are thought to want to wrap up their transfer business early on in the window - and negotiations for Kane have now gone quiet.

Kane has just 12 months left on his Tottenham contract and has been widely linked with the Red Devils, Chelsea and Bayern Munich since the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Man United have already begun sounding out alternatives to the England captain as they believe a deal could be too hard to do.
