Micky Hazard has labelled Chris Hughton a “legend” after his praising comments of Tottenham after Brighton’s promotion to the Premier League.
Hughton was quoted as saying that he would love the first game of next season to be “winners of the Championship” against “winners of the PL” referring to the London club.
The 58-year-old is one win away from helping the Seagulls win the Championship while Mauricio Pochettino’s team are four points behind leaders Chelsea in the table.
Brighton, who have a made a return to the top flight after over three decades, will take on Tottenham next term.
Club legend and former midfielder Hazard issued this response to Hughton after his comments about Pochettino’s side.

Brighton were the first team to secure their promotion from the second tier after they had beaten relegation-threatened Wigan on home soil on Easter Monday.
Third-placed Huddersfield had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Gary Rowett’s Derby which confirmed that Hughton will return to the top flight as manager.
The Seagulls take on managerless Norwich on Friday evening, knowing three points will see them being crowned champions.
Spurs will be hoping to taste the same success as the south coast club with Chelsea currently leading the way in the top tier.
The north London club have reduced the gap at the top of the table from ten points to four with the title race set to go the wire as six matches of the season remain.
