'He ticks all the boxes' - Exclusive: Everton tipped to sign PL ace to finally replace Gueye

Danny Mills has tipped Everton to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this summer and claimed he "ticks all the boxes" for Carlo Ancelotti.

The former Leeds and Manchester City full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, insisted the Toffees are yet to replace Idrissa Gueye and suggested the Southampton midfielder could be the player to do just that.

Gueye, 30, left Goodison Park last summer to sign for Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

The Saints will look to cash in on their captain rather than risk losing him on a free next summer - his contract expires in June 2021.

When asked by Football Insider if the Denmark international would be a welcome addition at Goodison Park, Mills said: "He has been doing well for some time.

"Southampton have often been a feeder club and it will all be about finances this summer. Everton will be asking - who can improve us? Who can we make money on? And who is not going to cost the earth? I think he ticks all of those boxes.

"They are yet to replace Idrissa Gueye but they do have Gomes coming back to full fitness from injury as well.

"But there will not be a massive influx of new players coming into football clubs whenever this transfer window happens."

Hojbjerg has been integral to a Southampton side that massively improved in the second half of the campaign.

In all competitions the defensive midfielder has made 33 appearances.
