Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Wenger captain choice speculation
By Amir Mir
Midfielder Santi Carzola is reportedly the new Arsenal captain – and supporters are unconvinced the popular Spaniard is the right man for the job.
The Daily Star claim that the Spaniard will lead the team out for their opening Premier League fixture against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Many fans welcomed the news that the popular 31-year-old is going to possibly be the main man for the club.
But, other supporters did not understand Wenger’s decision, with one fan stating he will “give up”,if the playmaker is officially given the armband.
Nevertheless, general mood was positive and welcoming, as a Gunners supporter insisted he likes the idea of the Spain international being captain, but pointed towards Alexis Sanchez, as he is a certain starter for the club.

If Cazorla is given the captaincy he has the task of uniting a fractured Arsenal support, as the club enters its 12th year without winning a Premier League trophy as the pressure mounts on Wenger.
Here are selection of the messages on Twitter:
Quite like the idea of Cazorla as captain. My favorite #Arsenal player. But if you're looking for a "leader" and a sure starter, it's Alexis

If Cazorla is going to be captain, I don't know why everyone's so against it. Heartbeat of this team.

Carzola, 31, takes over as leader from fellow Spaniard Mikel Arteta, who retired from football this summer and took up a coaching role with Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Per Mertesacker had been earmarked to replace Arteta but he is facing five months out after suffering a knee injury during pre-season.
Cazorla will be now hoping for an injury-free season after he was out of action for five months last term after damaging his knee against Norwich in November.
