Celtic’s plans for next season can now really begin, as the SPFL announced the fixtures for the 2018-19 season a short time ago.
The list of matches was recently unveiled on the SPFL website, and a certain run of fixtures around Christmas stand out like a sore thumb.
The Hoops face a trip to Easter Road to take on Neil Lennon’s Hibernian on the 15th of December, then face a very tough looking double header of a Boxing Day trip to Aberdeen followed their first visit of the season to Ibrox three days later.
If the Bhoys come away with nine points from those three matches, Brendan Rodgers will be delighted.
Of course the Hoops will hope to still be in the Champions League at that time, and their matches in Europe will also figure heavily when it comes to fixtures, as the first Old Firm match of the season – on the 1st of September – is set to take place only days after the final round of Champions League qualifiers.
The bottom line is though that the Hoops should have enough in their squad to deal with all the difficulties that will face them in the league next season.
That doesn’t mean that there won’t be bumps in the road along the way, and the run of fixtures at Christmas is certainly one which fans will be watching with great intrigue.
In other Celtic news, a claim about Brendan Rodgers just doesn’t ring true
