Hamza Choudhury would be a “great signing” for West Brom as he is “exactly what Sam Allardyce is looking for”.
That is the view of former Albion striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the prospect of the 23-year-old moving to The Hawthorns.
The Telegraph report the Baggies are now the favourites to land the midfielder on loan until the end of the season after he was also linked to Newcastle United.
Choudhury has fallen down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium this term and has been limited to just 70 minutes of Premier League action across three appearances.
Albion boss Sam Allardyce is in the market for reinforcements this window in his task to help the club avoid relegation.
He told BBC Sport West Brom will make “maybe 250 enquiries” in order to land three or four additions who are first-team ready.
And Campbell believes a move for Choudhury would certainly fit that bill.
He told Football Insider: “I think he would be a great signing.
“He is tough, tenacious and aggressive in the midfield – exactly what Sam Allardyce is looking for. He has got bags of energy and he does not give up.
“That is the type of mentality West Brom need to stay in the league this season. I think that would be a really good signing for them.”
A product of Leicester’s academy, Choudhury made his first-team debut in September 2017 as a 19-year-old.
Since then he has played 60 times for the senior side and has been a regular in the Europa League this term.
In other news, Football Insider can reveal West Brom are racing Norwich City and Swansea City to sign a Luton Town 26-year-old.
