Celtic supporters react on Twitter to Craig Gordon performance v St Johnstone

By Harvey Byrne

Celtic fans on Twitter have destroyed first team goalkeeper mainstay Craig Gordon after an error in Saturday’s 1-1 defeat against St Johnstone at Parkhead.

Gordon, 34, made an error from a clearance just before half-time, which was then pounced upon by opposition attacker Steven MacLean, who put his side a goal up on the 40th minute.

The Scotsman’s error almost brought an end to Celtic’s unbeaten domestic run in miserable fashion before Callum McGregor levelled the scoreline on the 80th minute.

Hoops fans on social media were also unforgiving of Gordon’s mistake despite his role in last season’s success and many used derogatory words to describe his performance on Saturday afternoon.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Gordon’s performance on Saturday comes immediately after conceding four goals in Tuesday’s Champions League qualifying match against FC Astana in what turned out to be a nervy encounter despite Celtic going into the clash 5-0 up on aggregate.

He will be hoping for a step up in his performances, but with only Dorus de Vries the other senior goalkeeper in the Hoops’ senior team there is little competition for the Scottish veteran.
