Hutchison: Midfielder reportedly eyed by Liverpool as good as Vidal and Nainggolan

By Will Butcher

Don Hutchison has claimed that RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita is on course to be just as good as Arturo Vidal and Radja Nainggolan, after reportedly interesting Liverpool.

Goal reported earlier this month that the Guinea international was one of a number of midfielders on Liverpool’s summer shortlist, as he continues to impress in the Bundesliga.

Former Liverpool midfielder Hutchison claimed Bayern Munich’s Vidal and Roma’s Nainggolan were among the best midfielders in the world on his personal Twitter account.

But Hutchison, 45, also believes that Keita is up there with the duo and is one that fans “must watch”, after replying to Frank Lampard’s claim that Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante is the best.

Inspiring Leipzig to a wonderful second place in their first season after promotion, it is believed that Keita is also being tracked by Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Vidal’s side Bayern.

Despite mainly featuring as a holding midfield player, Keita has proven prolific in the final third this season.

Scoring four times against Dortmund, Werder Bremen and SC Freiburg, the 22-year-old has also provided eight assists in just 23 league and cup encounters.

Similarly to France international Kante, Keita is known for his lung-busting stamina and speed in the middle of the park, with a constant desire to hassle as well as an eye for goal.

Joining Bundesliga’s surprise package Leipzig in the summer from RedBull Salzburg for £13million, Keita has a contract until 2020 and is likely to command a large transfer fee.

In other Liverpool news, this 23-year-old has revealed what is preventing a deal to be completed at Anfield.
