Hutton makes 'crazy' Rangers prediction after update on Goldson talks 'behind the scenes'
Alan Hutton has insisted Steven Gerrard will be “desperate” to tie down Connor Goldson to a new contract at Rangers.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Ger suggested the Ibrox boss would want a deal tied up before a “crazy” end to the transfer window.
The defender, speaking to Sky Sports (6th August), confirmed his representatives were in contract talks and that he is “open to remaining at Ibrox”.
However, he insisted he has left contract talks in the hands of his agent to “concentrate on football”.
The defender’s current terms expire next summer, meaning he could leave on a free at the end of the season.
Hutton stated that Gerrard would want something sorted over the coming weeks.

He told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge: “I think that behind-the-scenes Goldson will be one player that Gerrard is desperate to extend.
“With the transfer window ending soon, Rangers won’t want to be losing key players when the window goes a bit crazy toward the end.
“Losing key players at this stage of the season can have such a negative effect on the whole group.
“I think as a fan you like to see that he is being professional by concentrating on the football side of things, letting his agent take care of the contract talks.
“There are big games ahead so you don’t want to get drawn into talking too much about contracts if you’re a player.“
Goldson joined Rangers from Brighton in 2018 and has made 162 appearances for the club.
He played every minute in all competitions last season.
