Kenny: '25-goal-a-season' Henry can take Rangers to 'new heights' as agent reveals all

Thomas Henry can take Rangers to “new heights” and be the prolific goalscoring striker they missed last season.

So says ex-Premier League shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old OH Leuven hitman.

This site first broke news on 9 August that the Frenchman is a top target for Rangers as well as Premier League duo Southampton and Watford.

And Henry’s agent exclusively told Football Insider the following day that he has offers on the table from clubs in all of Europe’s top leagues.

Henry, who is also wanted by Celtic, has started the Belgian league season with three goals in as many games and has 45 in 78 for Leuven in total.

Right-back James Tavernier was Rangers’ top scorer in all competitions in 2020-21 with 19 goals.

And Kenny claims that Steven Gerrard’s side would be enhanced by the addition of a supreme goalscorer in the forward line.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I think if you get a 25-goal-a-season striker like him then he could take them to new heights.

“Obviously they did amazing last season but they never really had someone who was scoring week in, week out for them.

“I know the Belgium league is a totally different league to over here, but that is a ridiculous record that he’s got.

“I think he’d be a great signing because he knows where the back of the net is. That is exactly what you want from your striker and I can see it happening.

Henry’s deal with Leuven runs until 2023 after he signed an extension in January last year.

Gent, Venezia and Bordeaux are among the teams chasing his signature.

In other news, pundit claims this is why Rangers are crumbling upon the return of fans to Ibrox while Celtic are galvanised.
