Hutton makes 'desperate' Postecoglou claim amid early Celtic team news
Alan Hutton has claimed Ange Postecoglou will be “desperate” to hand Georgios Giakoumakis his Celtic debut against Raith Rovers on Thursday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland defender suggested the League Cup tie would be the “ideal” opportunity for the new signing to find his feet in Scottish football.
As quoted by the Herald last week (17th September), Postecoglou revealed Giakoumakis would “definitely be involved on Thursday”.
The Australian manager hoped to have the Greece international available against Livingston.
However, the 26-year-old was not even on the bench as Albian Ajeti led the line in the 1-0 defeat.
Hutton admitted Giakoumakis needs to get up to speed as soon as possible.

Asked about the prospect of the striker playing against Rovers, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “That would be an ideal situation if he’s ready to go.
“It’s a level where, no disrespect to Raith Rovers, he can come out and find his feet. It’ll be a proper opportunity for him. Then, moving forward, he can slot into the first team.
“There is competition there. It’s about getting these guys up to speed as quickly as possible. Postecoglou will be looking to do that in the cup games.
“You can get fit through training but you only get match fit by playing games. I think everybody’s going to have to be patient with him.
“He’s obviously not played yet but his scoring record from last season was sensational. They’ll be looking for him to try and get into that run as quickly as possible.
“It would be a great start if he’s available for the cup game. It’s lesser opposition, he can find his feet and build confidence.
“We’ll have to wait and see if he’s ready or not. I’m sure Postecoglou will be desperate to get him in the side.”
