Hutton makes 'huge' Edmundson claim after major Rangers transfer reveal
Alan Hutton has suggested George Edmundson will get a second chance at Rangers after a bid from Peterborough was rejected.
The former Gers right-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the defender’s loan spell at Derby County convinced Steven Gerrard of his talent and quality.
As revealed by Football Insider on Tuesday (June 22nd), the Gers have knocked back an offer from Posh for the 23-year-old.
Edmundson, who was suspended by Rangers for breaching lockdown rules, spent the second half of the 2020/21 season at Derby County.
Hutton suggested the Gers’ transfer stance suggested the defender would be given a “huge” chance to reclaim a first-team spot this summer.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It looks like he’s going to be given another opportunity. I think the loan move was perfect for him.
“Get away, get out the spotlight after everything that happened and then concentrate on playing. He’s done well. There’s obviously been a lot of clubs, a lot of interest, through the hard work that he’s put in.
“Obviously Gerrard and the backroom staff would have been monitoring that, his progress down south. They may feel he’s ready to come back and try and fight for a spot at Rangers.
“This is a huge pre-season for him. I think he’ll want to do his best for Rangers and try and break into the team. It’s up to him now.
“His hard work got him another opportunity to shine. Gerrard’s given him that opportunity so it’s up to him.”
Edmundson has played 17 times for Rangers since joining in 2019.
He made 10 appearances during his loan spell at Derby.
