Hutton tells McPake to join Rangers rivals next season after what he's seen
Alan Hutton has urged Rangers starlet Josh McPake to push for a loan move to Motherwell over a return to England.
The former Ibrox defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 19-year-old would be better off staying in Scotland’s top flight than dropping into the English lower leagues.
As reported by the Independent (June 22nd), McPake is wanted on loan by Motherwell, Doncaster, Morecambe, Oldham and Tranmere.
It is said the right winger is likely to be allowed to leave temporarily again this summer.
He had spells at Greenock Morton and Harrogate Town during the 2020/21 season.
Hutton suggested McPake’s time down south had helped him bulk up and become physically stronger.

He suggested a move to a Premiership rival would only help the attacker forge a career at Ibrox.
Asked if he thought Motherwell would be the best move for McPake, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “That’s exactly what I thought. He’s gone down south, he’s experienced that.
“He looks physically stronger to me when I’ve seen him so that’s obviously been a good experience for him. As soon as I saw the Motherwell interest, I thought that’s the right move.
“He’d get experience in the league up here, he’s in the eye of everybody. Not that Rangers wouldn’t be watching them down there but they can see him whenever they want.
“I think it’s the next progression for him. If he really wants to try and force his way in that Rangers team, it will obviously be difficult.
“If you can go and prove your talent and your ability to everybody up here, where we can see it on a week to week basis, I think it’s only going to stand him in good stead moving forward at Rangers.”
A graduate of the Ibrox youth ranks, McPake has made one senior appearance for Rangers to date.
He played 23 times and scored four goals during his spell at Harrogate.
