Alan Hutton has insisted Aston Villa have pulled off "another great signing" by capturing Axel Tuanzebe on loan from Manchester United.

The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 23-year-old would be a welcome addition despite his arrival going "under the radar".

Aston Villa confirmed last week (August 8th) Tuanzebe had re-signed for the club on a season-long loan.

Tuanzebe also spent two separate loan spells at Villa Park between 2018 and 2019.

Hutton insisted it is money well spent for the Villans.

Asked if the price tag proved how highly Tuanzebe is thought of at Villa, Hutton told Football Insider's Russell Edge: "Yeah, he's rated very highly.

"Obviously you know I do rate him. He can play centre-half, right-back. I think right-back's an area where Matty Cash is brilliant but you do need cover. That's squad depth.

"They've got a natural in who knows the club, knows the fans, knows what pressure you're under to perform.

"I think he was a little bit unlucky not to break into the Manchester United team. They were desperate for a centre-half.

"He's quick, he's strong. He ticks all the boxes for a modern centre-back or full-back. I think it's another great signing.

"A young hungry player desperate to prove himself at a high level. This is the direction Villa are going in. Players that are going to come in, can improve, they're going to get better.

"He did fly under the radar a little bit but I think all the fans, everybody round about the club will know how good a signing that is."
