Hutton tips McPake to agree Rangers double deal amid exit link
Alan Hutton has tipped Josh McPake to sign a 12-month contract extension before leaving Rangers on loan this summer.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Glasgow giants would want to strengthen their hold on the 19-year-old in case he has an “outstanding” 2021/22 campaign.
As reported by the Independent, McPake is wanted by the likes of Motherwell, Morecambe, Doncaster, Tranmere and Oldham on loan ahead of next season.
It is said Rangers are likely to green light another temporary exit for the versatile winger.
However, McPake only has one year left on the contract he signed back in 2019.
Hutton insisted Rangers could not afford to miss out on making money off the youngster or bringing him into the first team after his loan spell.

As such, he suggested McPake could be offered a 12-month extension at Ibrox.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “You normally find that there might be another one-year option.
“That, or they’ll try sign him up to another one year, on top of the one that he has, before he goes out on loan.
“You know what happens, he goes to Motherwell, he’s outstanding and then he’s a free agent. Then you’ve kind of missed out on either making money or bringing him back into your team.
“You’ll probably find that he might sign another 12 months on top, and then they’ll allow him to go out on loan.”
Naturally a right-sided winger, McPake spent the first half of the 2020/21 season with Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton.
He joined English League Two outfit Harrogate in January and helped the Yorkshire side win the rescheduled 2019/20 FA Trophy.
