Alan Hutton has urged Rangers to tie Glen Kamara down to a new money-spinning contract “as soon as possible”.
The former Ibrox star, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested “big clubs” would come sniffing around the midfielder and insisted a long-term deal would boost his transfer value.
As quoted by the Daily Record, the 25-year-old confirmed there had been talks over a new contract at Ibrox.
His current deal, which was signed when he joined in 2019, is set to run until 2023.
Kamara has been a mainstay for Rangers this season, with 43 appearances under his belt.
He has also nailed down a starting role for Finland, with 27 caps to his name.
Hutton admitted it was a “no-brainer” to tie Kamara down and suggested it would only boost the Gers’ coffers in the future.
Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “Get it done as soon as possible, in my opinion.
“I think he’s been absolutely fantastic over the years. I mean, signing this guy for £50,000 and then for him reach the levels that he’s at. He’s an international player, conducts himself really well. I think it’s a no brainer.
“Look, it kind of helps both parties. If he goes and signs a new contract now, it’s good for Rangers, it’s good security for Glen Kamara.
“Moving forward, if he continues to hit those heights that he has been, especially on the international and European level, then there’ll be a big club that’ll come in and be sniffing round about him.
“Again, Rangers we know, at certain stages, have to sell some players and they’ll be making a lot of money out of it. I think it ticks all the boxes for both parties.”
In other news, Rangers have set sights on “unbelievable” Morelos replacement.
