Paul Robinson “cannot understand” why Liverpool have not entered the transfer market to sign a goalkeeper in light of Alisson’s injury.
The former England number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that Jurgen Klopp now has a “big decision” regarding who he starts in goal for the “huge” Merseyside derby.
Alisson is ruled out of Saturday’s game against Everton with an injury sustained in the build up to the shock 7-2 loss at Aston Villa before the international break.
Klopp revealed that the Brazilian could be sidelined for up six weeks, leaving only the out-of-form Adrian and the inexperienced Caoimhin Kelleher available for the trip to Goodison.
“Kelleher is very inexperienced,” he told Football Insider.
“It is a huge game to chuck an inexperienced goalkeeper in. Leaving a goalkeeper of Adrian’s experience out for such a huge game is a big decision and is one that Klopp has to make.
“I personally think that he sticks with Adrian and gives him another opportunity.
“I am surprised that they have not already signed another goalkeeper knowing that Alisson will be out for 5 to 6 weeks.
“Adrian is having a wobble, he is not playing well and the only other fit goalkeeper is inexperienced so I just cannot understand why he has not addressed the situation yet.
“Liverpool have had the whole international break. It was the perfect opportunity.”
