Inter Milan have set their sights on trying to prise Alfredo Morelos from Rangers before the transfer window shuts, Football Insider can reveal.

The Italian giants are keen on Morelos, 23, as they look to recruit another centre-forward to boost their title challenge.

Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that Inter are set to sound out Rangers this week and test their resolve to keep their prize asset ahead of the 31 January cut-off.

Rangers attacker Alfredo Morelos says sorry

The striker is the subject of extensive interest from clubs across the globe, including wealthy Premier League sides.

It is a stance that is now facing its biggest test yet as big-spending Inter lay the groundwork for a late-January swoop.

Morelos has regularly spoken of his ambition to test himself in a more competitive league, including in the Premier League.

However, his commitment has been unquestionable in his third season at Ibrox and he has provided the goals that have left Rangers well placed for their first title in nearly a decade.

The Colomba international has banged in 28 goals and provided nine assists from 35 appearances in all competitions this season, including 13 in 13 Europa League clashes.

Rangers are in no doubt about his importance to their chances of ending their trophy drought, something Dave King and Steven Gerrard have also stressed publicly.
