Danny Mills raved about Everton attacker Cenk Tosun amid speculation that Leeds United were keen on his services.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Leeds defender admitted he thought Tosun was probably being looked at as a back-up solution in case Eddie Nketiah leaves in January.
It was reported that Tosun was one of the strikers on Leeds’ shortlist when it comes to a replacement for Nketiah and Mills admitted the Toffees forward would be ideal.
Mills explained that while Tosun may not be good enough for the Premier League, nor had been prolific for his current club, he was a hard-working striker.
When asked about Leeds being linked to Tosun, Mills told Football Insider: “I think it’s probably a back-up solution if Nketiah leaves.
“I think he’s not been prolific Everton but we have seen he is hard-working, diligent, obviously got quality may not quite enough for the Premier League.
“But he could be an ideal replacement, as he has experience, if Nketiah goes back to Arsenal.”
The 28-year-old forward has featured six times for the Merseyside giant this season, scoring one goal and registering two assists in the process.
Tosun has been at Goodison Park since joining the Toffees from Turkish giants Besiktas in January 2018 and is contracted to stay with the Premier League outfit until 2022.
The Turkey international has managed a grand total of 10 goals in the 49 outings he has made for the Toffees.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that there has been a huge Jack Clarke transfer development.
