Alex Bruce claims Tottenham star Harry Kane will be considering moving to a club in pursuit of silverware as he weighs up his future at Spurs.

The former Premier League defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists the 26-year-old will be growing impatient with the Lilywhites’ lack of trophies during his time in the first team.

As revealed by Football Insider, there is a strong possibility of a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between Kane and chairman Daniel Levy that would see the striker leave in a blockbuster transfer next summer.

Kane refused to rule out leaving Spurs in an interview with Sky Sports‘ Jamie Redknapp last month, stating he wants to see “progress” and that he would not stay “just for the sake of it.”

Bruce believes the striker is coming to a crossroads in his career and suggests he does not have time to wait for Tottenham to build a side capable of challenging for the Premier League.

Bruce told Football Insider: “If I was Harry I’d be looking at it and thinking: ‘Where am I going to win trophies?’ and that’s the biggest question he’s going to have to face.

“He’s not getting any younger, he wants to go and win a couple of things. Tottenham have got the infrastructure in place, with a great manager, great stadium, based in London, a great history. They just need to build a team now to go and compete with the elite clubs in Europe and obviously the likes of Liverpool and Man City.

“That will take time to get to that level. Has Harry Kane got that time to wait? We’ll have to wait and see what happens but if I was Harry, I’d be asking myself where am I going to win trophies because I’m not getting any younger.

“A player like Harry Kane’s ability, it would be a shame if he went through his career without really winning anything.”

Spurs’ last major trophy came back in 2008 when Juande Ramos’ men beat Chelsea in the League Cup final at Wembley.

The Lilywhites have been in three cup finals since, losing to Manchester United and Chelsea in the League Cup and to Liverpool in the Champions League.
