I'm leaving Rangers at the end of the season: Striker sends heartfelt Twitter message to fans

By Harvey Byrne

Young striker Jordan Gibson has told his Twitter followers and Rangers fans that he will be leaving the famous club at the end of the season in a heartfelt message.

The club have told a number of their young players that they will be released from the club once their contracts are up this summer.

Young midfielder Max Ashmore also announced he was leaving on Thursday evening, while fellow attacking midfielder Josh Jeffries also shared that he was departing.

Young forward Gibson is also part of the group leaving the club as the 19-year-old shared the development on his personal Twitter account, posting that while it was one step back club wise, he had taken two steps forward in his development.

Birmingham-born Gibson made the switch to the Rangers youth ranks from Alvechurch in the summer of 2015.

He never made the step up to the Gers’ first team with the club boasting a number of strong forwards in their Championship campaign which saw senior striker Martyn Waghorn smash home a fine 28 goals in 36 outings in all competitions last season.

Gibson will now be looking to find a club where he can get first team football at this stage of his career.

In other Rangers transfer news, Derek Johnstone would not be surprised if this Gers first teamer left this summer.
