Kevin Phillips believes Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is only getting “better and better”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former England striker delivered his verdict after the 23-year-old scored on his international debut on Thursday night.

Calvert-Lewin scored the Three Lions’ opening goal in their 3-0 win over Wales at Wembley.

The striker has had a fantastic start to the domestic season, scoring nine goals in six games including two hattricks.

His goals have fired the Toffees’ to the top of the Premier League after they recorded four wins from their first four games.

And Phillips believes his England call up was fully deserved.

He told Football Insider“I expect him to be there for a long time.

“He’s getting better and better and better. He’s developing.

“Let’s not forget he’s a young kid. He’s working under a world-class manager who has been there seen it, done it and given him sound advice. Obviously, he’s got big Duncan in the background as well.

“He fully deserved his cap and I was excited to watch him.

“I’m not getting too carried away.

“He’s been top class and he’s an exciting talent.

“If he can have a good season going into the Euros in the summer, we’ll be looking very, very healthy.”

Calvert-Lewin‘s goal scoring record has been transformed under the management of Carlo Ancelotti.

Since the Italian’s arrival in December of last year, the striker has netted 17 times in 26 games.

Prior to that, he managed just 24 goals in 114 Everton appearances.
