Premier League boss identifies most important Tottenham player

Southampton manager Claude Puel has claimed Hugo Lloris is Tottenham’s “most important player” ahead of the clash between the two sides on Wednesday.

Puel used to manager Lloris at Lyon and signed the Frenchman in 2008 before he went on to join Tottenham where he is now considered a key player.

The 30-year-old recently signed a new contract with Mauricio Pochettino’s side which will keep him at the club until 2022 and Puel believes he is the club’s most important player because he is “clinical.”

“He’s an important player for Tottenham because he is clinical every time, he will make saves in every game,” said Puel, as reported by Sky Sports.

“The most important player at Tottenham, he has a good level, good quality, character and he’s a good captain.”

Lloris has made 189 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham after joining in 2012 and became the club’s highest-paid player after signing a contract extension.

He is regarded by many as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and he has already produced a number of match-winning displays for Tottenham this season.

The Saints head into the clash against Tottenham on the back of a 3-1 victory against Bournemouth on Sunday and will be hoping to make it their third victory in six games.

Tottenham currently sit in fifth place, four points behind Arsenal, but could close that gap to just one point if they secure victory against Southampton.

They have picked up two victories in their last two games but they only picked up three wins in their previous 13 games in all competitions.
