Injury expert tips Bergwijn to play through the pain v Newcastle after Tottenham injury update
Steven Bergwijn will be playing through the pain if he makes an appearance during Tottenham v Newcastle.
That is according to medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Bergwijn, 24, picked up a knock in September’s Europa Conference League clash against Rennes.
A few days after his injury, the player shared an image of his foot in a protective boot.
He has not played for Tottenham since but could be back in contention to face Newcastle this weekend.
Dinnery claims Bergwijn could easily make the matchday squad but stressed he would be playing through the pain if he makes it onto the pitch.

“With injuries like his, it’s about pain management,” Dinnery told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He is doing a lot of gym-based activity. If he can manage that pain and he’s able to work then he can return to the team.
“His fitness will still be in a good place, that image told us a lot. In the wider circle, Tottenham are coming off the back of a couple of wins.
“They got those wins without Bergwijn in the side and we know they have quality players like Kane and Son.
“Do Tottenham need to risk him? No. But he could play if they needed him to.
“He needs to be ready. We know behind closed door games don’t match the intensity of the Premier League.
“If he is in the squad I would expect him to be on the bench but he could play if he manages that pain.”
