Steven Gerrard might not be taking over at Rangers in an official capacity until June 1, but he’s already busy preparing the groundwork.
Rangers blog Four Lads Had a Dream, a solid source of Rangers information, has claimed that he has already met up with Josh Windass.
They say he’s held talks with the 24-year-old attacker who he sees as an important member of the squad for next season.
They also claim that negotiations are ongoing with Brighton for centre-back Connor Goldson.

Football Insider verdict:
Windass was reportedly linked with a move to either Cardiff or Burnley, with a £3million fee mentioned. Now it looks like Gerrard is going to try and convince him to stay and play under him next season. Windass has a weird relationship with the Rangers fans and it’s probably fair to say that they would be more than happy to lose him if they got a £3million fee. However, he scored 18 goals in 41 games last season and although he’s a player that runs hot and cold, there’s no doubt he can perform in the Premiership. Gerrard is a fan and if he can drill some consistency into him then he could push on to be one of the best players in the Scottish top-flight. Gerrard obviously thinks that he wouldn’t be able to buy better for £3million and is in talks to try and get him to stay. If Windass could just wind things in a bit with the fans – the sshhhing celebration in particular was just really badly judged – he might feel more valued as a player. As it is, he probably wonders what he’s got to do to get them on side.
