Insider: Gollini has blown 'last chance' to save Tottenham career
Pierluigi Gollini did nothing to prove he has a future at Tottenham after being given a chance against Morecambe.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Gollini, 26, was handed a rare start as Tottenham narrowly avoided an embarrassing defeat to Morecambe in the FA Cup on Sunday (9 January).
The stopper’s indecision caused the corner that the Shrimps scored from in the first half before a late flurry spared Spurs’ blushes.
On 20 October, Wenham told this site the stopper’s move will become permanent if he makes 20 appearances but updated on 7 January to say that he doesn’t think this will happen.
Wenham insists Gollini did nothing to change the club’s mind against Morecambe.

“Where do I start with Gollini?” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I spoke recently about the talk of Conte not being impressed and that we will look to avoid signing him permanently.
“He was completely at fault in the run-up to the goal yesterday, it was just awful. He showed no confidence and created confusion.
“Morecambe took their chance and that put us on the track to an embarrassing defeat that we managed to avoid in the end.
“Gollini did absolutely nothing to suggest he is a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.
“This might have been his last chance to stake a claim and he didn’t show anything.
“It was so disappointing if I’m being brutally honest.”
Gollini has now made nine appearances for Spurs since joining on loan from Atalanta in the summer.
The majority of his appearances have come in the Europa Conference League.
