The Argentinian playmaker has been ruled out of action for the last four games, three of those coming in the Premier League, as a result of a hamstring injury suffered in the 1-1 draw against Bournemouth over a month ago, and his return will be an exciting prospect for the West Ham faithful.
Prior to his layoff he had been a first team mainstay for the Irons, with 20 appearances across all competitions after recovering from a blow to his knee limiting his playing time at the start of the season.
Of his outings, 18 have come in the starting XI, and he has scored three goals and chipped in with a further six assists for his team mates.
The Hammers will be hoping to take their performance from the 2-0 win over Watford a fortnight ago into the clash against the high flying Reds, who themselves come into the tie off a 5-0 thrashing of Porto in the Champions League.
