West Ham have joined a Premier League transfer hunt including Leicester City and Southampton for Ostersund striker Saman Ghoddos, according to a report.
ESPN FC claim on their website that the Hammers are one of a handful of clubs eyeing up a swoop for the 24-year-old Iranian international, and had scouts watching on as the versatile forward was one of the heroes of the Swedish side’s 2-1 win over Arsenal in the Europa League on Thursday.
Ghoddos, who can operate as a centre forward or on either wing, set up both goals as his side slipped to a 4-2 aggregate defeat, and the four-cap international has scored four and chipped in with five assists during his 14 outings this season.
Football Insider verdict
While a two legged tie against Arsenal would have been the dream for Ostersund prior to the matches, the increased exposure may well see them lose some of their top performers. Ghoddos was a starring figure in both legs and put the Gunners to the sword, so it should come as no surprise that English sides are considering a swoop for him. West Ham could do with reinforcements in attack, and if the Iranian international liked his time in London when he took on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, they could offer him a permanent stay for next season. Still, there is some serious competition for his signing, and it could come down to a bidding war.
