Insider: Tottenham could agree 'clever' Alli and Rodon deal with Newcastle - one permanent and one on loan
Tottenham duo Joe Rodon and Dele Alli could both join Newcastle in January.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 4 December, a Tottenham source told Football Insider Rodon, 24, has his heart set on leaving the club in January.
According to The Athletic‘s David Ornstein (13 December), Tottenham are willing to let Alli, 25, leave during the January window as he does not feature in manager Antonio Conte’s plans.
It is understood a loan-to-buy option would suit Alli’s protective buyers.
Premier League sides are unable to sign two loan players from the same club and as such, Wenham predicts clubs such as Newcastle could strike a “clever deal” with Tottenham.

“If Newcastle are interested in Joe Rodon, I expect there is a clever deal to be done there,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I think if Newcastle were told they could sign one permanently and take the other on loan with an option to buy, that would suit Tottenham.
“Obviously you can’t loan two players from the same club so that is out of the question.
“You can also understand why Newcastle would be more hesitant to buy Dele Alli considering his poor form over the last few years.
“They are the deals Tottenham will be looking at, we have done it in the past.
“I remember we once sold four players to Portsmouth and then another group of players to Sunderland.
“It would also make the move easier for both players.
“It’s a long way up north and they can both lean on each other.”
