Insider: Tottenham have the ideal number 10 - he can be 'the next David Silva' after what I've seen
Tottenham ace Bryan Gil could become the next David Silva if he can be moulded into a number 10.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Gil, 20, signed for Tottenham from Sevilla this summer and has already made eight appearances in all competitions, including an hour in last night’s 5-1 Europa Conference League win over Mura.
The Spaniard is typically a left-winger but is quoted by Football.London (29 September) as saying he can play anywhere across the attack.
In the second half of Spurs’ 3-1 loss to Arsenal, Nuno opted to use a number 10 and this change saw his side create far more chances than they did in the first half.
Wenham wants to see Gil start in this number 10 role going forward and hopes he can emulate Manchester City legend Silva.

“If Tottenham continue with this formation we need a midfielder pushing higher up,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“In the number 10 role. I would love to see Bryan Gil play there in the Premier League.
“He played 20 minutes against Arsenal and made a very positive impact, he has no fear.
“Gil has impressed me, he can be that creative player. I know he likes playing on the left-wing but I’m sure he could make that transition.
“I think he has the potential to be the next David Silva. There are similarities in that they are both Spanish and fairly small, creative players.
“If he can be worked on in that way I think we have a really exciting player on our hands.”
Silva made 436 appearances for Man City over a 10-year spell.
Recently, a statue of Silva was erected outside the Etihad to pay tribute to his incredible Blues career.
