Adrien Rabiot is keen to join Liverpool after his dream of joining Barcelona collapsed this year, Football Insider understands.
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, 24, was close to securing a pre-contract deal with Spanish giants only for talks to break down and the move hit the buffers.
A source close to the player has told Football Insider that Rabiot is open to moving to a leading Premier League club and his preference would be to link up with Liverpool, who were beaten 3-0 by Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final first leg on Wednesday night.
Jurgen Klopp has claimed the Merseyside giants will not be as active in the transfer market as they were last summer, but expects a number of new signings to arrive at Anfield.
Rabiot has been linked with Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United since talks over a PSG extension collapsed last December after he rejected multiple offers from the club.
The France international has subsequently been frozen out of Thomas Tuchel’s side and he has not been named in a single matchday squad since the turn of the year.
Rabiot’s contract at PSG expires in June, when he will available on a free transfer.
The six-times international has made 227 appearances for PSG since joining from Toulouse and has been instrumental in their total domination of French football.
