'I've heard I'm a dinosaur' - Bruce issues brutal response to Aston Villa boo-boys
By Danny Wright
Steve Bruce has hit out at the Aston Villa fans who are demanding he leaves his managerial post after a poor start to the Championship campaign.
Villa have won just one of their first seven games of the league season, leaving the fans to question whether the ex-Birmingham boss is the right man to take them back into the Premier League.
After two goalless draws against Brentford and Middlesbrough on home turf, the fans made their displeasure known as boos rang around Villa Park following the two abject performances.
Bruce has now claimed that there is nobody out there who is more qualified than him to take the Villains back up to the top-flight and has issued a brutal response to supporters who want him out.
“I’ve heard I’m a dinosaur. But I’ve been promoted twice in the five years,” Bruce said to BBC WM, as quoted on the BBC Sport website. “If I go, who are they going to get who’s any better?”

He added: “Is that the fix? Off with my head, then someone else comes in and changes everything again?
“This team came in either last Christmas or this summer and people are judging them on six months. That’s not long enough.”
Aston Villa are sat 18th in the Championship table after seven games played, just three points of the bottom three which they would be hoping to be nowhere near.
Most bookmakers had the West Midlands side as one of the favourites to not only win promotion this season but to also lift the title, but early results suggest that this crop of players are a far cry from reaching such lofty heights.
In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports pundit has compared the Villains’ start to the season to that of Leeds.
