Jari De Busser ‘keen’ on completing Celtic move as price tag revealed

Jari De Busser is “keen” on the idea of moving to join Celtic as their new number one goalkeeper, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old has already admitted that he is ready to depart Go Ahead Eagles ahead of next season, and the Bhoys have him on their list as a strong option to bolster their goalkeeping department.

De Busser is out of contract at Go Ahead Eagles in June 2027, and sources have indicated that it would only take Celtic around £2million to take him to Glasgow this summer.

That fee is firmly within the capabilities of the Parkhead side, as they are preparing for a transfer window that could see their squad overhauled.

Celtic want fresh additions across the board ahead of 2026-27, and a move for a new goalkeeper is seen as a top priority for them.

Celtic impressed by Jari De Busser experience

Celtic have been linked with a whole host of goalkeepers in recent weeks, as they go in search of a replacement for Kasper Schmeichel, after he recently confirmed his retirement.

De Busser has emerged as a strong candidate to take on the starting role at Celtic Park next term, with the recruitment team impressed by the level of experience that he possesses.

De Busser’s 2025-26 stats ranked against other Eredivisie ‘keepers, as per Fotmob.

The Belgian stopper has spent the last two seasons in the Eredivisie, and only one other ‘keeper managed more clean sheets than his nine across the 2025-26 campaign.

De Busser also boasted the Eredivisie’s highest goals prevented tally at a staggering 10, while also playing a key role in his team’s Europa League campaign.

He turned in some strong performances as part of the Dutch outfit’s continental exploits, as they narrowly missed out on qualifying for the knockout stages.

De Busser’s form has seen him emerge on the radar at Celtic Park, and the recruitment team feel that he is well-placed to come in and make a difference for the Bhoys next term.

Celtic-linked goalkeeper now a free agent

Football Insider revealed back in April that Celtic are admirers of Dundee ‘keeper Jon McCracken, who has been one of the Scottish Premiership’s strongest performers in recent years.

The champions have been assessing the 26-year-old as one of their options in recent months, and have now seen the door open for them to make a move for him this summer.

McCracken has now been released by Dundee after he and the club were unable to agree on terms for a new contract, meaning that he will now be available without the need for a transfer fee.

The former Norwich City man has also had interest from the English Championship, while it remains unclear whether Celtic will be prepared to firm up their interest.
