West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen has taken to social media to respond to Michail Antonio's most recent post with both players set for lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Bowen sustained the injury in the first half of the game before eventually limping off and being replaced by Crysencio Summerville in the 60th minute.

West Ham haven't given a timeframe for his return, releasing a statement that simply states the injury "will sideline the Hammers captain heading into the New Year".

The England international has been key for Julen Lopetegui as the Spaniard struggled throughout the first half of the season, starting 16 of his 21 games across all competitions, scoring six goals, and providing four assists in 1827 minutes of action.

Defeat to Liverpool sees Lopetegui's side fall to 13th with six wins, five draws, eight defeats, and 23 points from their 19 Premier League games.

Jarrod Bowen sends love to West Ham teammate Michail Antonio after hospital discharge

Antonio, 34, was discharged from hospital on Tuesday (December 31), three weeks after undergoing surgery on the broken leg sustained in a horrific car accident earlier in the month.

The Jamaica international is expected to be out of action for at least a year while he recovers from the broken leg with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

According to the Times, the East London club are still looking to extend his contract with the club depending on how he recovers.

West Ham go into their first game of 2025 on Saturday (January 4), an away trip to current Premier League champions Man City, without two of their main goal threats.

Lopetegui's side will then travel to Aston Villa for their first FA Cup game of the season as they seek to salvage their season.
