Journalist: Newcastle expected to swoop for top flight forward in fans' dream transfer move
Newcastle United are expected to try and swoop for a permanent deal for on-loan winger Kenedy from Chelsea after his impressive form at the club, according to a journalist.
The Chronicle’s Chris Waugh has revealed on the newspaper’s website that the Magpies are keen on securing the 22-year-old’s future at St James’ Park and will be trying to convince the Blues to part with the forward if they secure their place in the Premier League next season.
News of an expected swoop will be music to the Newcastle fans’ ears, who have identified the speed machine as their top signing and have already urged manager Rafael Benitez to snap up his signature via social media.
Having signed for Chelsea in a deal worth in the region of £6million, Kenedy has made six appearances for the Magpies since his loan arrival, and scored his first two goals during the 3-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.
Football Insider verdict
Newcastle fans have already taken the young Brazilian under their wings and it appears as though the winger is flourishing from their love and affection. He is definitely a player who has talent but needs the confidence to perform, and with 52,000 members of the Toon Army cheering him on every other week, there are few better places to be given that support. However Chelsea will be looking for a healthy profit on the youngster and it will all come down to whether the Magpies have, or want to give, the sort of money the Blues will demand. Still, it is boding well for the Toon Army so far, but Premier League survival has to be their priority.
