Newcastle fans will love this message from Perez. It shows real heart to put in a 90-minute shift after losing the person who he said was like a second mother to him. It shows how Rafa Benitez has galvanised the squad, despite all the off-the-pitch troubles at St James’ Park. He might not gave been able to get the players he wanted in the summer, but the ones he does have are committed to the cause, and that’s all the Newcastle fans can ask for.
