Kane told to 'get out as quickly as possible' after Tottenham bombshell
Tottenham could spend £200million this summer but it would not be enough to keep Harry Kane satisfied, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Premier League striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted an exit was “on the cards” for the 27-year-old after another disappointing campaign.
As revealed by Football Insider, Kane has told friends he wants to quit Spurs this summer after the club’s lack of progress.
It is understood the striker feels the club is “going nowhere”, although he blames the Spurs hierarchy, rather than manager Jose Mourinho.
Kane still has three years left on his contract in north London.
However, Whelan insisted he would win nothing by staying with Spurs.
He even claimed a summer transfer bonanza would not be enough to keep him on board.
Discussing Kane leaving Spurs, Whelan told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “It’s on the cards, I’m not just the only one that thinks it. The simple fact is that Harry Kane stayed knowing that they’re going to go out and buy players.
“Now they brought in players that just don’t play. Dele Alli is not playing, he’s had a good relationship with Harry Kane over the years.
“You’ve then got Bale that’s come in that should have shown that intent Kane wanted to see from Tottenham. He’s not been playing and not had a good relationship with Jose.
“The only thing that Harry Kane can do now is get out of Tottenham as quickly as possible. Go start winning things somewhere else. He’s running out of time and a player like that demands to win trophies. He’s one of the best strikers in the world.
“If he stays at Tottenham, he’s going to end his career winning absolutely zip. I’m sorry to say that because I think Tottenham are a fantastic side. I just don’t think they’re going to progress enough to please Harry Kane and show he can win things there.
“There are too many teams above them now that are too strong for them. They could go out and spend £200million and probably still not compete with Liverpool, Man City Man United now.”
