Kenny claims 'unbelievable' Gibbs-White can lead Sheffield United to glory

Sheffield United must keep Morgan Gibbs-White fit and firing if they are to have any hope of reaching the play-offs.

That’s according to former Blades stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the “unbelievable” star.

Gibbs-White, 21, has scored five goals and chipped in with four assists in the Championship since joining Sheffield United on loan from Wolves last summer (2021).

He scored a sensational goal in the Blades’ 3-2 win over Cardiff last Saturday (4 December).

Kenny insists Gibbs-White is key to the club’s promotion push with Sheffield United now chasing down the play-off positions.

“His goal against Cardiff last weekend was unbelievable,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“That’s the word I would use to describe him really, what a season he’s having.

“He is so important to that team. We have been brilliant in the last few weeks and he has been a big part of that.

“He’s top class. Going forward, he just breezes past players.

“Heckingbottom has to keep him fit and firing over the next few weeks.

“We need to keep hold of him until the end of the season.

“We’re on the up and those play-offs aren’t looking too far away.”

Gibbs-White has made 86 senior appearances for Wolves since making his debut for the club back n 2017.

The attacker went on loan to Swansea last season but was recalled in January after only making five appearances.

In other news, pundit ‘sure’ Heckingbottom has been given transfer ‘guarantee’ by Sheffield United ahead of January.
