Kenny salutes Tottenham boss Nuno as 'brave' Tanganga transfer decision revealed

Tottenham are right to keep the “superb” Japhet Tanganga on the books rather than ship him out on loan for the season.

So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the 22-year-old starred against Man City last Sunday.

Tanganga delivered a battling display and was named Spurs’ man of the match in the 1-0 victory over last season’s Champions.

And Football Insider revealed the following day (16 August) that Spurs have reversed plans to send the young defender out on loan this month.

Nuno Espirito Santo later claimed that the youngster had put in a “huge” performance and was “fantastic” in one-on-ones, as quoted by London Live.

Kenny insists that the new Spurs boss has made the right call in pulling a U-turn over Tanganga’s future.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “I do think it’s smart from Nuno Espirito Santo after that performance against Man City.

“He was superb, man of the match at the weekend and the manager has gone on and decided to keep him.

“What is the point in sending him out on loan if you are going to use him going forward?

“At the end of the day, it’s a brave decision for his progression, but he’s shown us all what he can do now.

Tanganga is contracted to Spurs until 2025 after he signed a five-year deal last summer.

He did not feature as Tottenham lost 1-0 to Pacos de Ferreira in last night’s Europa Conference League qualifier.
