Kieran Maguire shares £15m Tottenham-Aston Villa reveal amid official announcement

Tottenham make more money from selling “pints and burgers” than Aston Villa do from their entire matchday income.

That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after Aston Villa announced on 4th June that season tickets had been renewed in record numbers.

The club registered double the daily sales record upon the launch of the renewals campaign.

But Maguire told this site on 12th June that Villa earned £11million per year from matchday income and that figure pales in comparison to their elite Premier League rivals.

And the spreadsheet expert now claims that Spurs make more money alone from selling refreshments than Villa get coming through the turnstiles.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “Spurs make £800,000 per game just from catering. That’s over £15m a season.

“They make more from selling pints and burgers than Villa do from selling tickets.

“Villa Park is bigger than the likes of Brighton and Crystal Palace’s stadiums but those clubs still earn more from matchday.

“One thing I would say is that what seems to go into matchday income seems to vary from club to club. Some clubs include catering and matchday together, some won’t.

“I quote these figures because they come from the accounts but there is no agreed standard between the clubs themselves.”

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium seats approximately 63,000 spectators and was opened in 2019.

Villa Park meanwhile opened its doors in 1897 and accommodates just shy of 43,000 supporters.

In other news, pundit claims Aston Villa will soon have better squad than Tottenham after key transfer update.
